Culy pubs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fxpal.com\/?p=pubs&amp;author=943\" target=\"_blank\">worked on discourse parsing at FXPAL<\/a> a number of years ag<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Documents%20and%20Settings\/rieffel.PAL\/My%20Documents\/My%20Pictures\/self_portrait_Chris_Culy.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>o, is now in Italy working as a Senior Researcher and the Language Technologies Technical Officer at the <a title=\"ISCM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eurac.edu\/en\/research\/institutes\/Multilingualism\/default.html\" target=\"_blank\">Institute for Specialised Communication and Multilingualism<\/a>. He oversees language-related software development and leads a <a title=\"ling data visualization\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eurac.edu\/en\/research\/institutes\/multilingualism\/projects\/ProjectDetails.aspx?pid=6109\" target=\"_blank\">research project on linguistic data visualization<\/a>. But the real excitement is that he has a solo art show, <a title=\"Revisualizing the Visual\" href=\"http:\/\/clfotonline.com\/photography\/revisvis\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Revisualizing the visual<\/em><\/a>, opening today.\u00a0 His work combines his\u00a0 interest in photography with his\u00a0 interest in how information is structured and perceived. The software he has written to support his work transforms colors into shapes or uses color information to create rambling colorful paths based on the image. To create effective artworks, Chris carefully chooses the original photograph and tunes the algorithms to it.
